Interior Styling: The Modern House X Great Barn Farm

Occupying a site in West Norfolk, Great Barn Farm is a collection of former agricultural spaces that have been thoughtfully developed by architects Turner.Works. As a former stable block the space has a simple lateral layout, impressively high ceilings and large windows that frame the surrounding views. We were commissioned by The Modern House to curate the space as a holiday destination for their design conscious audience; a place where guests can surround themselves with design-classics, tactile furnishings and contemporary artwork.

Taking inspiration from mid-century homes with similar proportions, we introduced a mix of both 20th century design and contemporary furniture. Bold colours and shapes were complemented by a mix of natural materials such as linens and jute, the tactile feel to the space ensures the interior aesthetic remains appropriate to its rural surroundings. The soft greenery of plants again nods to the mid-century style and helps to break up the colour of the original brickwork and dark wood flooring that runs throughout.
